Be Involved

In the Episcopal tradition, we believe that our worship and our liturgy is the “work of the people.” While certain portions of the services are reserved for the ordained ministers, St. Peter’s invites participation by lay people in the form of Lay Eucharistic Ministers, lectors, acolytes, ushers and others.

Altar Guild

Parishioners who assist in maintaining the liturgical appointments and linens for the altar and prepare the church for worship. Their responsibilities include the preparation, setting and care of the vessels for communion. They also assist with the flowers and a variety of other tasks that promote the dignity and beauty of the worship services. Contact: Leslie Showalter for more information

Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors

Lay Eucharistic Ministers administer the chalice, read the prayers of the people, and assist the celebrant of the service as needed. Lay Eucharistic Visitors take communion from a church service to those who are home-bound or are in the hospital. Participants for this ministry are selected by the clergy. Contact: The Rev. Penny Sisson for more information

Ushers

This group of men and women assist by welcoming people during the church services, handing-out the service bulletin, assist the congregation during communion, and receive the offering at the 11:00 a.m. service. Contact: Kirk Lovejoy for more information

Lectors

Volunteer Lectors read the lectionary readings at the 7:45am and 11am services. Contact The Rev. Jennifer Southall for more information
