Cookies for the Christmas Party at the Jail
The Christmas party at the Lafayette Co. Detention Center is scheduled for Tuesday evening, December 19, and is a wonderful annual opportunity for us to convey Christmas goodwill and cheer to those in need. Please consider baking your cookies of choice (no fruit in cookies) – and as many as you’re able to contribute – and dropping them off at the church on Monday, December 18 or Tuesday, December 19 by 4:00 p.m. We need a lot of cookies so get to baking. If you’d like to attend the party, please contact the church office.
Holly and red berries needed to be used for decorating the church for Christmas. If you have any holly or red berries that could be used to decorate the church for Christmas, please bring them to the church no later than Monday, December 18. They will begin decorating on Tuesday, December 19. If you have any questions please contact Kitty Smith at 234-3642 or 832-0451.
Morning Prayer through Advent
To set the season of Advent apart liturgically, we’ve elected to say the Office of Morning Prayer on Sundays at the 9:00 and 11:00 services, together with a Celebration of Holy Eucharist. The Daily Office is a wonderful dimension of our liturgical heritage as Episcopalians, and it will be a meaningful addition to our worship as we move through this holy time and season. The bulletins for the remaining 3 Sundays will be all-inclusive, so as to help our congregation follow along and participate fully.
Poinsettias: As is our custom, we are asking for donors of poinsettias to decorate the church Christmas Eve through the first Sunday after Christmas. The cost is $15 each, and the sign-up sheet is outside the church office. Please include the names for dedicating the gift in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Please sign up no later than noon on Friday, December 15 in order to be listed in the Christmas bulletins. Poinsettias may be removed by their donors any time after the services on December 31.
Staff Christmas Gift It is our tradition to provide a Christmas gift to our staff, who are so very important to us. If you would like to contribute, please see Leslie Banahan or drop off a donation at the church office by Monday, December 18.
The Shop of the Three Blessings: Patricia Krueger and Anne Steel will open The Shop of the Three Blessings during Coffee Time on all four Sundays of Advent. Here’s how the Shop works: you make a gift to one of the church’s outreach ministries in the name of a friend or loved one, and then you select one of the Shop’s homemade cards to give to that person to signify the gift. You may also buy cards in the church office, or you may call Patricia Krueger at 816-3455 or Anne Steel at 801-0682 and buy them directly from her.
Special Advent Offerings: Tea and Mediations on Monday, December 18 at 5 p.m. and Listening to Scripture in Advent, Wednesday, December 20 at 7:00 p.m.
